""My Mother's Eyes"
Sung by Harold Peary on the
Honest Harold Radio Program
This is a poem I wrote to my daughter Jennifer in 1994, she was just about to turn 4 years old.
She is 18 now and this poem still holds true!!  Thank you, Mom, the the great lessons!!
A Friend To You

Grandma isn't here
to hold you on her knee,
But she left her greatest part,
The love within my heart.
I'll share this love with you
and teach it to you, too.
You'll get to know your Grandma
by the ways she taught me
how to be
A FRIEND TO YOU.

A lifetime of questions I know you will ask,
some I cannot answer, but I gladly take the task.
The ones about your Grandma I can answer everyday,
she taught how to love you, be a friend in every way.

To her it came so easy,
I don't think she even knew,
She cried through all my trials and
laughed when needed, too.
Used a loving hand to guide me
when direction had come due,
in loving ways she taught me how to be
A FRIEND TO YOU.

If I can be for you,
the mom she was to me,
You will get to know your Grandma
and what she meant to me.
So when my end is here
and I move to Heaven with Grandma,
I hope that you'll remember
the lessons that she taught me
and what a friend a mom can be.
